Artist Statement

The sensation of estrangement and the act of approaching it. Growing up as a child of Polish immigrants in Germany – half knowledgeable of both cultures – left me in a state between belonging and alienation. I consider especially the latter and its analysis as the driving force for my work. The materials I use vary, always depending on the current matter, but I predominantly use cool-toned materials, and my sculptures and installations follow a clear structure. These two elements play a significant role in the process of removing the immediate emotionality, allowing a distanced approach and a new perspective within a calm and organized environment. I believe a lot of seemingly personal experiences are widely shared and precisely by creating a generalised but tangible image, I aim to offer a space for identification.
